The question what to do requires immediately another question: On what ground ? Today's life is very rich an
distributed and nobopdy can answer the first question generally.
One thing is simple: We have to brake. But braking is not something desired. Especially under these conditions.
We have to deduce a moral from the story of a wise man who enters a village. He sees a lot of donkeys with men on them but
none drives. He asks why and the riders say the one whose donkey will be the last wins. He says everybody should exchange his donkey with someone elses. We have to change donkeys but the question is how.
With this group of pages I will try to share my suggestions. Would also like to hear yours if you decide to write and share.
Education is mass education, directed to the average of the mass and much too competitive nowadays.
As a result understanding and digestion is left aside, the students good in handwork may go ahead.
I have seen physics PhD's who does not know the why of having equal denominators as the fractions are added /subtracted.
Almost no one understands the theory of special rela- tivity. Even Einstein says he no more understood it after the
mathematician began and handled it dominantly. Everybody behaves though as if he understands it.
My older son is a 6th grader. He asked just a couple of
minutes ago "Father, should it be a full moon or a new moon when the Earth is between Sun and the Moon ?" I have
said him to draw a picture and think about it. He is a very good student, first in his class but he could not.
I tried then remebering the planar figure I had seen in the books years ago. I quickly realized that an angle of incli- nation should be the answer for not
having eclipses twice a month. I did not know yesterday that such an angle existed and how big this angle was though I am a well educated old retired research fellow with a PhD.
Education may be our only chance and it has numerous problems. I will write much more about it in my next page.
RESEARCH and DEVELOPEMENT
Main purpose of education to educate the needed personnel for the social division of labor whereas R&D opens up new areas
of labor. Education is for maintanance, R&D for growth.
That growth should be balanced ana sustainable should not be forgotten. It seems that competitive ground has a tendency to deny limits or to ignore them.
There is only one possibility to solve the dilemna: To share. To share and to adapt the whole humanity to the limits set by our natural environment.
The problems we confront nowadays seem to be solvable if every family restricts itself to only one child. At the least it is worth trying.
In about 40 years the population comes down to around 3.5 billions and this may solve.
In order to take such a decision and to make it generally acceptable we again need conclusive R&D. I will write more in my related page.
Self care and profilaxi should be promoted. Health insurance system must pay attention to people living the right way.
Some sources of escalating costs are to be avoided. Wages should be cut in some cases and keeping the dead people alive should be done more hesitatingly.
The last days of Einstein, offers made to him and his answer must be remembered.
More use of computer assisted diagnosis and treatment is due.
The system should be integrated as much as possible to give the most efficient response in case of something pathological. Nationwide and even worldwide.
It seems that we need to pay more attention to mental health. Mental health of all humans. The possibilty and the probabilty of being created and having a
second life is to be reavaluated. It may help on cutting the costs.
We will expand our suggestions and the reasons behind in our related page.
LAW and BUSINESS
Laissez-faire and to individual rights oriented state must change. More weight should be given to the society and the
environement. This will certainly brake growth but no harm if done globally.
Business should be conducted open code. More coopera- tivity and more distributed share of shares seem to be musts.
A global social structure funded by all governments that takes care of the weak and ill is to be operative.
Wrongdoers and not cooperatives are to be punished globally and gradually.
5th generation management techniques adapted to social and environmental needs may well work.
Agriculture has problems but agricultural scientists and farmers, dairy owners etc. seem to be well aware of them. They
know what they live from. Their foot are always on ground.
Share of use of agricultural equipment seems to be due.
Soil is tired and depleted, more use of manure and more need oriented production (production including handshake between
the end user and producer) may help.
Fertilizers are to be used with more care.
Irrigation equipment are to be transportable, shareable and solid/long living.
Use of GMO seed is to be restricted. Their percentage should not be over 66 or around.
