Middle school or/and junior high school is/are levels of schooling between elementary and high schools. Sometimes it is defined
as a secondary school usually including 7th and 8th grades. In some common models grades 5-8 are included but we included only 6th grade as it is known that middle schools are usually
grades 6, 7, and 8 (i.e. around ages 11–14).
The junior high school concept often involves a group of teachers from different disciplines working as a team with the same group
of students of the same grade level, with each teacher teaching a different subject. Students may have an assigned homeroom. This is intended to encourage sense of belonging, for social
and emotional support to students transitioning from the usual single classroom in elementary school.
Middle school in North America is associated with personal and emotional difficulty. Physical and hormonal changes that accompany
puberty and adolescence are exacerbated by newfound self-consciousness, social pressures, and the desire for conformity and identity. Despite attempts to prevent it, bullying is still considered a major problem in middle schools today. According to the 2012
documentary "Bullies" 9 out of 10 middle schoolers have been bullied and feel "unsafe" in their school. School based outreach programs offer some comfort to the bullying victims, and
local school performances give advice to kids experiencing bullying.
PUBERTY and ADOLESENCE Puberty is a time in our life that brings lots of growth and change both on the outside and inside. It's the process of
changing from a kid into an adult, even though we won't be all the way grown-up when it's over. Basically, it's a time when our body becomes sexually mature, our repro- ductive system
starts to work. Too swift changes, too many gradients mean too often too many problems.
It is caused by hormones, chemicals produced by our glands that control our growth and behaviors. They force different parts of
our body to change. By the time puberty's over, our body will be bigger, stronger and more "adult looking" . There will be more noticeable
differences between us and someone of the opposite sex. This means someone else will have something we do not have and are in need of. This is a reason of conflict.
We need to overcome the conflict as we are also being forced to get the necessary education to be prepared for our share of work
JUNIOR H. S. MATHEMATICS
Accompanying preponderant puberty related difficulties of audience there are some other problems in teaching math. in middle
schools. Two of them we may easily recognize: 1- Abstraction difficulties of youngsters and 2- Not at that stage deducible values like π and volume formulas for sphere, cone, pyramid
Abstarct reasoning ability may depend on many parameters like age, nationality, sex etc. and I could find any relaiable scientific
data showing its dependance on age. Some concepts introduced early in middle schools require a good deal of abstract reasoning. We may cite set theory (introductory) and properties of
numbers among concepts requiring abstraction. Constants and quantities like π and some volume formulas are given in middle school with the student having no possiblity
to question their truth. This poses a difficulty for the ones who do not like memorizing and want to understand.
We preferred to guide the student on the way to abstract regarding abtract reasoning difficulties.
We adopted to give C++ programs, code and explanation, to handle the difficulties that may arise on the way to understand the
volume formulas. We believe this is a mandatory act since our next generations will need a good deal of calculations before they act.
